Perpectly Pink

Billboard: If P!nk's new music video for "F**kin' Perfect" doesn't make you cry or cringe at some point, you've got thicker skin than we do. The clip for the pop star's latest single, which has reached No. 30 on the Hot 100 so far, chronicles the painful struggle of a girl who is battling personal demons from a very young age. By the time she's a high school teen -- played to wrenching effect by "Napleon Dynamite" alum Tina Marjorino -- she's wearing brooding eyeliner and getting high in a bathroom stall, while her classmates blissfully try on prom dresses. Just before it's too late, though, it gets better. In a harrowing scene that shows the girl cutting herself in a bathtub (warning: it's grahic), a relic from that same disturbing childhood ultimately gives her a second lease at life. P!nk video's story directly just once, when she toasts to the girl's newfound happiness from across a crowded room...and it's enough to make you want to raise your glass right along with them (Monica Herrera, NY. Jan 2011). Pink's 'F**kin' Perfect' Video Gives Suicidal Teen a Second Chance

2dayfm: In a statement on her website, Pink challenges the audience to make themselves more aware of issues of mental illness. "Its a problem, and its something we should talk about. We can choose to ignore the problem, and therefore ignore this video, but that won't make it go away. I don't support or encourage suicide or cutting." Pink also hopes that the song's controversial nature will prove to be an invaluable lesson for her unborn baby. "I have a life inside of me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving and welcoming arms. And though I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well." Pink's F**kin' Perfect Video: F**kin' Controversial?
